It was amazing to find a four-year-old boy Esara Bhashitha Kauminda, from Dewundara, in Southern Sri Lanka, visiting Kandy for the first time identifying the location of the house in which he lived in his previous life, six years ago as a school boy.
這是一則令人驚奇的消息，來自位於斯里蘭卡南部的達問答拉的四歲小孩，伊薩拉.巴希塔.考明達，就在第一次來到坎蒂的時候就能指出他前世所住的房子位置，他說自己六年前還是一個六歲的學童。
The house which was his home is no more there. He walked to the foot of a Nuga tree which stands on the side of Mosque Road in Kandy, in close proximity to the lake, and said that the tree was in front of his house.
他前世的家已經不在那裡了，但步行到一棵"奴加樹"下，也就是到達坎蒂的莫斯科路，一個靠近湖泊的地方，他指出這棵樹就在他的家前面。
When asked about the house he lived, he walked a few steps behind the tree and stood in a place where there was no sign of any construction. The house which was both a hotel and residence was demolished along with some other buildings nearly three years ago to make room for the Kandy Municipal Car Park.
問及到有關他前世住的房子，他在那棵樹前走了好幾步，然後站在一個沒有任何建築物與遺跡的地方。他說：那間房子曾經是旅館與住家二合一的組合，但因為要建造坎蒂當地的市立汽車公園而和鄰近的房屋一起被拆除。
Dr. G. G. Keman Kulasiri, gold medalist in astrology and his wife Padmalatha of Kiralawella Dewundara, took their son Esara, aged 4 years and 8 months to Kandy following repeated requests.
住在奇拉拉威拉.德問答拉的肯曼.庫拉西利博士，是獲得天文學金牌獎的得主，與他的妻子，帕德馬拉是應他們家裡面四歲又八個月大的兒子，伊薩拉不斷的懇求才來到坎蒂。
"From the day our son began to speak he wanted to go to Kandy. The first words he muttered were Nuwara (Kandy), Dalada Maligawa (temple), \'Walakulubemma\' (parapet wall), wewa (lake), Perahera (procession) among other words and names of people."

Dr. Kulasiri and his wife said that their son mentioned about the bomb explosion at the Dalada Maligawa, and said that the perahera passed his house. He referred to two dogs and said that one was named Jimmy. He often spoke of his friends. One was \'Peethi\'. He also told that he had a red shirt and occasionally went to swim and his chest hit a rock in the water, Dr. Kulasiri and Padmalatha said.

In order to satisfy the boy Dr. Kulasiri his wife, son and their three daughters had travelled to Kandy by train on Friday 15 and spent the night with relatives in Matale. The following morning they left for Kandy, and as they got off the bus near QueenHotel, the smart little boy had showed them the entrance to the Sri Dalada maligawa as if he was a regular pilgrim to the shrine. He had pointed at the lake and the \'Walakulubemma\' (parapet wall).
At the Dalada Maligawa he had moved about as if he knew all about the Shrine and the rituals of the sacred place. He led his parents and sisters to different places of worship and of importance, within the Maligawa.
為了滿足這個男孩需要，庫拉西利博士和他的妻子，兒子與他們家三個女兒一起在十五日星期五那天搭火車來到了坎蒂，在馬特拉當地的親戚家過了一晚。翌日早晨，他們來到了坎蒂，就在皇后酒店那裡下車時，那個聰明的小孩告訴他們「斯里.達拉達.瑪利軋瓦寺院」的入口，宛如他是那間寺院，聖地的時常朝聖的常客一樣那麼熟悉。在那個寺院裡，他讓父母與兩個姐妹去朝拜各個不同的地方。
He had said he wished to see the cobra-hooded statue of the Buddha on a hill-top and pointed in the direction of the Buddha statue. The little boy had led the way to the statue at Rajapihilla Mawatha and later walked down the road by the Kandy lake in the direction of the Kandy Central Market. On the way down

he had pointed at a Nuga tree by the road side, which he said was in front of the house he had lived.

Dr. Kulasiri sought the assistance of some young men in the area to ascertain the truth of what his son said. They not only confirmed what the child had said but also extended their assistance to trace the family that ran an eating house in a line of houses near the Nuga tree which were later demolished to accommodate the Kandy Municipal Car Park.

The Ranasinghe family who had run the eating house in the ground floor and used the upper floor as their residence, had gone into occupation to a house at Singharagama, about ten kilometeres away from Kandy.
那個房子，一樓就是從事那家餐館的業主就是拉納欣格一家人，樓上就是住家，現在已經搬離該地去了距離坎蒂十公里遠的辛哈啦噶瑪，
Subsequently, in the afternoon of Saturday 16, arrangements were made by G. H. Premadasa, General Manager of Devon Hotel Kandy, who too was from Dewundara, arranged for a meeting of Kulasiri and Ranasinghe families. The families met at Devon Hotel.
隨後在十六日星期六中午後，由坎蒂的迪芳旅館總經理，普雷瑪達薩引領下，一行人從得萬達拉來到庫拉希利與拉納欣格一家人會面。兩家人就在德芳旅館會面。
Mangalika Kasthuriarachchi wife of the eating house owner, and her two daughters were present at the meeting. Ranasinghe did not attend the meeting since he was indisposed.
那家餐廳的業主，也就是芒軋里卡.卡斯土利亞拉奇奇的妻子，當她的兩個女兒出席現場。而因為身體不舒服緣故，主人拉納欣格並未出席。
The meeting at the hotel was a sensational event with excitement. Huggings and tears were rolling down their cheeks as Mangalika clasped the little boy in her arms crying, "This is my dear son who was drowned in the river five years ago."
旅館裡的會面是一個充滿感觸的場合。緊緊的擁抱與不停止的淚水，當芒軋里卡，也就那家餐館的業主緊緊抱住那小男孩，哭著喊：「這是我五年前在河裡面溺死的孩子啊！」
The child had remained in the arms of Mangalika, who was believed to be his mother five years ago.
而緊緊抱著孩子在懷裡的芒軋里卡咸信就是那小孩五年前的母親。
"My only son who was second in the family was a student at Dharmaraja
College, Kandy. While swimming with some friends in the Mahaweli river at Tennekumbura, on January 31, 2001, he was drowned. Another boy was also drowned and three others escaped. My son Thilanga Madhushantha Ransinghe, was a year ten student. He had many friends and was very popular among his colleagues. A red colour shirt was bought for him to attend a wedding."
「我唯一的兒子在家裡面排行第二，他就讀於坎蒂的達瑪拉賈學院。就在兩千年元月卅一日，那次與朋友到恬內庫布拉地區的馬哈威利河，他在河裡面溺死。另外一個男孩也溺死，其他三個則倖免。我的兒子提郎加.馬杜斯漢他. 拉納欣格當年還是十歲的學生。他有許多朋友，人緣很好。她為了帶他去參加婚禮，買了一件小紅襯衫給他。」
Mangalika said that there were two dogs in the house and one was called Jimmy. He had an elder sister Shasika, she is now 22 years and a younger sister Shalika, who is now 16 year, she said.
這位餐館的業主，芒軋里卡女士說：在房子裡面有兩隻狗，一隻就叫做吉米。他有一個姐姐莎西卡，現年已經廿二歲。還有一個妹妹叫做莎里卡，現年已經十六歲了。
The mother of Esara, Padmalatha recalling the story of how she got the son as the fourth child in the family, said that she had three daughters and urged for a son. "I travelled to
而伊薩拉，也就是指出前世的兒子的母親，帕德瑪拉他回憶起她懷了這個家裡面排行第四的兒子的往事，她說：她已經有了三個女兒，並且渴求一個兒子：「我曾來到坎蒂這裡幾次，而且來到達拉達.馬里軋瓦寺院這禮拜過佛牙舍利。每次我向佛牙舍利祈求，我都希望能夠生一個男孩。」
"With the blessings of the Tooth Relic, "Dalada Vahanse" blessed me with a son on January 31, 2002, eleven years after my third daughter was born. My son is very loving, pious and intelligent," she added proudly.
「就在佛牙舍利的保佑之下，『達拉達.瓦漢西』保佑我在兩千零二年，元月卅一日生下一個男孩，就是在我生下第三個女兒的十一年後。我的兒子非常可愛，聰明，對佛祖也很虔信。」她很驕傲地說。
The two families departed later in the day after having made arrangements to visit the Ranasinghe family at Singaragama the following day, Sunday 17.
The house of the Ranasinghe family was crowded with relatives, friends and neighbours to welcome the family from Dewundara with Esara. The little boy loved by two families had a warm welcome at the residence of his previous life parents. There was immense curiosity and tension as the child identified many articles shown to him. Among them were the red shirt he referred to very often and also identified the dog Jimmy.
兩家人並約定下次就在位於欣格拉格瑪的拉納欣格家裡面會面的日期，十七日星期日。當天拉納欣格家裡面擠滿了親朋好友，還有鄰人都一起來歡迎來自得萬達拉的這個男孩，伊薩拉。這個受到兩個家庭喜愛的小男孩受到當地他「前世的」親朋友好友們熱烈的歡迎。大家都對這個「被認證」的「轉世」男孩表現出極高的興趣與好奇，現場並且陳列許多他過去用過的東西，也包含那件他曾經提到的小紅襯衫與家中那條狗，吉米。
Easara asked for the bat he used to play with his friends. But the bat was not available in the house as it was given to a boy in the neighbourhood. Mangalika assured to get it back and make it available to him.
伊薩拉想要看那隻他和朋友們一起玩的球棒，但是那球棒在家裡已經找不到了，因為球棒已經送給鄰家小孩。盲軋利卡女士就去鄰家將那隻球棒找了回來，並且送給了他。
On Sunday afternoon the families separated with a pledge to continue the relationship which the little son had bridged.
週日下午，由於這個小孩做為橋樑，這兩家慎重約定成為親戚關係。
The child has contacted the Ranasinghe family regularly by phone from the day they returned to Dewundara. The Ranasinghe family is planning to visit Dewundara shortly.
從那天以後，拉納欣格家人定期與住在得萬達拉的小男孩用電話連絡，並且計畫很快就會到得萬達拉去看這個小孩。（故事完）

這是很浪漫的故事，也給大家一個啟示：
1.如果要求子，向佛牙舍利祈求是一個不錯的選擇。向佛菩薩與觀音菩薩祈求也很不錯。
2.假如你的親人，又來轉世了，你將覺得如何呢？這給大家一個新的體驗，或許你也可以向佛菩薩祈求，請佛菩薩指點你，親人往生何處，如果還在人間的話，你願意和他見面嗎？
3.輪迴與因果無時無刻停歇，我們要深信因果，並敬拜佛祖。

很有趣的是，有關輪迴轉世的問題，並非只有佛教徒才有這樣的傳說，連西方學者也有相關的研究報告。有一位冰島大學的心理學家，艾爾蘭朵爾. 哈拉德森（Erlendur Haraldsson）教授，在國際期刊，"社會心理學研究"（Journal of Society for Psychical Research）（Vo. 64.1 No.858）上面提出一份報告：Birthmarks And Claims of Previous-Life Memories--I. The Case of Purmina Ekanayake，中文的意思是："胎記與前世記憶－以普魯蜜娜.艾卡那亞介個案為例"，這裡面提出一個見解，有關兒童的胎記，有可能是前世受傷留下來的記號。這位學者並提出，通常所謂的"前世"是指"上一世"。
值得我們注意的是：在西方國家曾經有學者長期調查這種個案，史蒂芬森（Stevenson）教授在1997年曾經調查過225個個案，其中有十一個是來自斯里蘭卡。而這篇文章的作者，哈拉德森教授在斯里蘭卡就調查出有六十個兒童說出自己前世的個案。其中他注意到有三個是自己的胎記，就是前世受傷的記號。這篇文章所提出的個案，是作者在1996年九月到1999年三月在斯里蘭卡所做的調查。故事的主人翁是個女孩，這女孩不但能說出自己的前世是誰，也能說出自己是怎麼過逝的，並且出示自己的胎記，就是當初"他"（女孩的前世是男的）就是在這個地方被車子撞到死亡。女孩指出有名有姓的那個男人，後來經過查證，特別請法醫去驗屍，真的就和那個男的死因說明完全相同，並且和指稱的位置完全一樣。
這篇文章很有趣，作者特地把這個個案做了詳細的調查，並且做了年表，做了事件時間序列分析。因為原來的文章是PDF檔，所以暫時，要等轉成了Word檔以後，比較方便翻譯。
不過，讓我驚奇的是：原來斯里蘭卡這個佛國，還真的有一些人都是過逝後再轉世為人的例子。看樣子，生在佛教國家，也許是一種福報吧。不過這和他們信佛有些關係，就拿上面這一篇文章來說，男孩的母親是去了佛牙寺在佛牙舍利面前虔誠祈禱，這個男孩就似乎就是佛祖應允，降生在她家。並沒有經過畜牲道等等的程序。我這次從西方學者這裡看見，真的覺得有些訝異。也許說不定台灣，大陸也或許有這樣的例子，只是很久沒有報導出來而已。

事實上，輪迴，可不是佛教的專利喔！西方國家有些學者長期在關注這個問題，在http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reincarnation#Western_religions_and_traditions這個站裡面，就回答了許多有關輪迴的西方觀點。
學會這個英文單字吧：Reincarnation，這就是輪迴。

Scientific and other research into reincarnation
The most detailed collections of personal reports in favor of reincarnation have been published by Dr. Ian Stevenson in works such as Reincarnation and Biology: A Contribution to the Etiology of Birthmarks and Birth Defects, which documents thousands of detailed cases where claims of injuries received in past lives sometimes correlate with birthmarks or birth defects.
致力研究輪迴最詳盡的個人報告就是伊安.史蒂芬森，在他的作品："輪迴與生物學－胎記的病源學"，這本書裡面有數千個詳細的個案宣稱前世所遭受的打擊與今生的胎記有關。
Stevenson has spent over 40 years devoted to the study of children who have spoken about concepts seemingly unknown to them. In each case, Dr. Stevenson methodically documents the child\'s statements. Then he identifies the deceased person the child allegedly identifies with, and verifies the facts of the deceased person\'s life that match the child\'s memory. He also matches birthmarks and birth defects to wounds and scars on the deceased, verified by medical records such as autopsy photographs.
史蒂芬森教授花了超過四十年致力於研究那些說出不該有的觀念之兒童個案。在每個個案裡，史蒂芬森博士用系統化，科學化的方法去羅列這些兒童們的陳述。然後他指出死者與兒童的對應關係，並且對於死者生前事實對應兒童今生所說出來的情況做了分類。他比對了胎記與前世死者的受傷處，以醫學紀錄諸如驗屍等方法來做驗證。
Stevenson believes that his strict methods rule out all possible "normal" explanations for the child’s memories. However, it should be noted that a significant majority of Dr. Stevenson\'s reported cases of reincarnation originate in Eastern societies, where this phenomenon is common - if a child from a poor family claims to be the reincarnated person from a rich family, this can lead to the child to be adopted by that family, a motive that has led to children making fraudulent reincarnation claims.[6]
史蒂芬森教授相信他的嚴格科學分法將能對於這些兒童說出前世的現象整理出一個正確的解釋。然而，值得注意的是史蒂芬森教授的輪迴觀念是源自東方社會，在那裏這種轉世的現象被視為普遍的。如果小孩從貧窮家庭出身而宣稱是從有富有的家庭輪迴過來的人，這將會導致小孩被那個有錢的家庭所採認，其宣稱輪迴的動機不無有詐欺的可能性。
As Stevenson himself said about the 2500 cases of children, who appeared to remember past lives, which he and his associates investigated: "My conclusion so far is that reincarnation is not the only explanation for these cases, but that it is the best explanation we have for the stronger cases, by which I mean those in which a child makes a considerable number (say 20 or 30) of correct statements about another person who lives in a family that lives quite remote from his own and with which his family has had no prior contacts. When we talk about remoteness, we don\'t necessarily just mean physical distance. We know that two families can live only 10 kilometers apart and yet they can be very remote because they belong to different economic and social classes." See the whole interview.

Perhaps the most significant anecdotal evidence in this regard is the phenomenon of young children spontaneously sharing what appear to be memories of past lives, a phenomenon which has been reported even in cultures that do not hold to a belief in reincarnation. Upon investigating such claims, Stevenson and others have identified individuals who had died a few years before the child was born who seem to meet the descriptions the children provided. However, Stevenson cautions that such evidence is suggestive of reincarnation, but that more research must be conducted. 這份稱為"科學邊界"的雜誌，一份半月刊提供了許多有關描述不符合科學規律報告的摘要，包含了一些觀察，事證，有些甚且挑戰了現代科學的規律，從1976年以來，超過兩千篇這樣的文摘發表。

截至目前為止，因為西方宗教的關係，西方人士還不是很相信輪迴，但是輪迴的問題，與輪迴的解釋，卻慢慢為西方人士所接受，記得前幾年一本前世今生的書籍，在坊間爆紅，事實上這本書會出版，基於西方已經有科學家率先研究輪迴的背景。
基本上，人的前世是人，已經為許多人所接受，剩下的問題是：人的前世有可能是動物嗎？還是有可能是其他。無論如何，釋迦牟尼佛的說法，正慢慢由科學家逐步地證實。
所以，祖師們早就都說過了，我們要深信因果。
