Before we decide to follow a Guru, we definitely have to look into him or her well, but nowadays we encounter many problems regarding the investigation of the Guru. Some people might have looked into the Guru for a long time, but still haven’t got any results. Some people might just blindly believe in and take refuge in certain Guru without investigation, and have received some Tantric dharma, empowerments, pith instructions, and so on, but afterwards when they hear of or observe a variety of his faults, they lose confidence and even start to slander. Such bad karma is very severe, and the effect will be extremely horrible.

依止上師前一定要好好觀察，可是我們如今在觀察上師方面出現了很多問題。有些人觀察上師很長時間，卻一直沒有觀察出結果；有些人又根本不觀察，盲目相信和皈依某位上師，接受一些密法灌頂竅訣等，過後又聽說或觀察到他的種種過失，信心退失，甚至開始誹謗。這樣的惡業非常嚴重，果報非常可怕。
